  • Stop your car and stay at the scene, switch on your hazards to warn other drivers.
  • Check to see if anyone is seriously injured and contact SAPS immediately.
  • Call for an ambulance if there are injured victims.
    If your vehicle is not heavily damaged and is obstructing traffic,
    move it to a safe location.
  • However, ensure you photograph the scene and damages first. Take a photo of:
    • the scene of the accident, from all angles.
    • the surrounding area.
    • the injuries; and any damage to property.
  • Accidents must be reported to SAPS & an accident report
    completed within 24 hours of the accident.
  • Remember to call the other drivers cell phone from your phone to
    ensure that they have given you the correct number.
  • Take a photo of the driver, their drivers license & the drivers
    vehicle as well as your vehicle.
  • Get the details of all individuals involved in the accident, as well as any witnesses. These should include:
    • Full names
    • ID numbers
    • Addresses
    • Contact details
    • Vehicle registration numbers
